The Quality Inspector ensures that parts are manufactured to customer specifications. Utilizes coordinate-measuring machine, CMM, programming to measure part dimensions.
Responsibilities
*Reads blueprint or engineering specifications to obtain product information such as material, processes, finish and dimensions.
*Inspects at all stages of product processing development from receiving through in-process, final inspection and packaging.
*Inspect machined work pieces or product at machine stations or inspection area to ensure conformance to specifications.
*Measures dimensions such as angles, length, height and distance between reference points using precision equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and/or CMM to ensure product specifications.
*Work with production when needed to layout product for machining.
*Records inspection results on appropriate forms including discrepancy reports when needed.
*Set up and calibration of inspection measuring and test equipment to standards to ensure accuracy.
*Part mark final machined parts and products.
*Receiving of material from vendor and product when returned from outside processors.
*Perform audits and document results when required.
*Perform upkeep of the quality system such as approved vendor list, limited shelf life, discrepancy reports, etc.
*Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
*Knowledgeable of standards and specifications such as GD&T, ISO9000, AS9100 and AS9102.
*Knowledgeable of machine shop procedures, shop mathematics and inspection techniques.
*Must have effective communication skills both oral and written.
*Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
